A generic code reader stops at the powertrain module, which is why a customer can come in with a hard 1-2 shift and a clean scan. This tool reads the transmission control module directly alongside the engine, ABS and airbag modules, so TCM codes, solenoid circuit faults and speed sensor faults show up instead of hiding behind a single stored P-code.
