Transmission Oil Cooler for Dodge Ram 2500 3500 Cummins

This is the front-mounted transmission and torque converter oil cooler (heat exchanger) that sits ahead of the radiator on 2003-2009 Dodge Ram 2500 and 3500 pickups. It replaces the factory unit and carries OE numbers 918-964, 68004317AA, 05086946AA, 05086946AB, 05191791AA, and 68253200AA. Fitment covers Ram 2500 2003-2009 5.7L V8, Ram 2500 2004-2009 5.9L Cummins, Ram 2500 2007-2009 6.7L Cummins, and Ram 3500 2004-2009 across the same 5.7L, 5.9L, and 6.7L engines. The factory cooler on these trucks fails two ways. The seams and the welded line fittings crack and start weeping ATF, usually showing up as a drip at the front of the truck and a slow drop in fluid level. The second problem is contamination: when a 48RE or 68RFE lets go, metal and clutch material get pushed into the cooler and lodge in the plates, and no amount of flushing gets it all back out. Reinstalling a transmission behind a cooler full of old debris is the fastest way to kill the rebuild, so the cooler gets replaced as part of any transmission R and R.

The cooler is built from aluminum for corrosion resistance and heat transfer and is made in TS16949-certified facilities with functional testing before it ships.
