Complete front oil pump assembly for the Toyota U250E 5-speed, also listed for U140, U240 and U241 transaxles in 1999-up Toyota and Lexus models.
This is a complete front pump assembly for the Aisin-built Toyota U250E five-speed transaxle. The listing also calls it out for the U140, U240 and U241 family, which share the same crescent-less gear pump design. These units are behind the 2.4L and 3.3L engines in Camry, RAV4, Highlander, Solara and several Lexus models from 1999 on.
The pump is what makes line pressure for the whole unit. When the pump gears or pocket wear, or the bushing walks out, you get low line pressure that shows up as delayed engagement into drive or reverse, flare on the upshifts, a whine that rises with engine speed, and eventually burnt clutches. A pump that has been run with debris in the fluid usually scores the body and gear faces badly enough that replacing the assembly is quicker and more reliable than trying to resurface and rebush it.
On the bench: with the unit apart, pull the old pump, inspect the stator shaft sealing rings and the input drum journal for scoring, and install new rings. Lube the pump gears and the new front seal with ATF or assembly lube before you set it in, then torque the pump bolts evenly in a crisscross pattern. Check input shaft end play before closing up. Match your old pump to this one before install, since fitment varies by model year and engine.
