Full-system bidirectional scan tool that reads TCM data and runs active tests, with CAN FD and DoIP for 2023-up GM, Ford, RAM and BMW.
The G5 Pro is a full-system tool built around a wireless Bluetooth VCI and a 5-inch IPS touchscreen running Android 7.1.2. The VCI stays plugged into the OBD2 port and streams to the handset from up to about 33 feet away, which matters when you are under the car watching a solenoid command while someone else drives the menu. AutoVIN pulls make, model and year in about three seconds, and one-tap Auto Scan walks every module on the bus and returns a fault list.
For transmission work the useful part is module depth plus bidirectional control. It reads the TCM alongside ECM, ABS, SRS, BCM, TPMS, HVAC and gateway, so you get manufacturer-specific shift codes instead of the four generic P0700-family codes a basic reader stops at. Live data lets you watch commanded gear against actual gear, ATF temperature, line pressure and turbine versus output shaft speed - the four numbers that separate a slipping clutch pack from a solenoid that is not being commanded. Active test then lets you command the solenoid directly and confirm whether the circuit responds before the pan comes off.
It carries native CAN FD and DoIP (ISO 13400) support, which is what 2023-and-later GM, Ford, RAM, BMW, Mercedes and Volvo vehicles need. Older scanners simply report a communication failure on those buses. No external adapter is required for either protocol. Thirteen-plus service resets are included - oil reset, EPB retract, SAS calibration, throttle relearn, TPMS, DPF and the rest - and Wi-Fi updates are free for the life of the tool with no annual subscription.
One limitation worth knowing before you order: 2018-and-later Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, Ram and Fiat vehicles use a Security Gateway Module, and a 12+8 SGW adapter cable is required to unlock bidirectional and reset functions on those. That cable is not included with the G5 Pro. An AI-driven repair guide is built into the code screen and returns probable causes and a test order for the DTC on screen.
