Expands the Teflon sealing rings onto 10R140 drums and shafts, then resizes them back down so the units slide into their bores without shaving a ring.
Seal ring expander and resizer set for the Ford 10R140 ten-speed, the transmission behind the 6.7L Power Stroke in F-250 through F-600 trucks from 2020 up. The 10R140 uses scarf-cut and solid Teflon rings on the clutch drums and shafts, and those rings will not stretch over a hub by hand without tearing or taking a permanent set. This kit gives you the tapered expander cones to walk the ring on and the matching resizer cups to squeeze it back to bore diameter afterward.
Bench use is straightforward. Slide the ring up the expander cone onto its groove, seat it, then let the drum sit a few minutes so the Teflon relaxes. Before the drum goes back into the case or into its mating bore, push it into the resizer cup of the matching diameter and hold it there until the ring closes down flush with the land. A ring that has not been resized is the number one reason a rebuilt 10R140 drum will not enter its bore, and forcing it shears the ring and leaves you chasing a low-pressure complaint after assembly.
The same technique applies to the 10R80 and other late Ford and GM ten-speed units that share the scarf-cut ring design, so the set does not sit idle between 10R140 jobs. Steel cones and cups, no plastic parts that deform under a heavy drum.
