A porta power is the tool you reach for when a bench press cannot get to the job. This is a 4 ton (8,000 lb) hand-pumped hydraulic ram kit, Torin model T70401S, with the pump, hose, ram and 17 pieces of tooling packed in a rolling blow-molded case. The pump is separate from the ram and connected by a flexible hose, so you can set the ram down inside a tight tunnel, under a crossmember, or against a bellhousing flange and stand clear while you pump.
Five extension tubes are included at 19-1/2 in (496 mm), 16-1/2 in (418 mm), 8-1/2 in (215 mm), 5 in (125 mm) and 3-1/4 in (82 mm), so you can build the ram out to whatever reach the job needs instead of hunting for a block of wood. Head and base pieces cover the usual push and spread work: serrated saddle, rubber head, combination head, wedge head, expansion wedge spreader rated at 1,000 lbs, 2 ton ram toe, 2 ton plunger toe, 4 ton flat base, V-base and a male connector. The ram head is a flexible pad design that interlocks so it will not pop off the tube under load.
In a driveline shop this earns its keep straightening a bent crossmember, spreading a frame rail so a transmission mount lines back up, pushing a stuck extension housing off a case, forcing apart seized suspension and body panels after a collision, and any time you need controlled pressure in a spot a 20 ton shop press cannot reach. The pump has an automatic overload bypass that stops building pressure past rated capacity.
Kit weighs 38 lbs and the case measures 23.34 x 14.33 x 7 in. Steel construction, hydraulic oil rated for cold and hot shop temperatures, one year manufacturer warranty.
