42RLE Transmission Filter and Pan Gasket Kit for Jeep Dodge

The 42RLE is the four-speed rear-wheel-drive automatic Chrysler ran behind a huge slice of its 2003-2013 lineup, and like any automatic it lives or dies on clean fluid. This kit is the filter and pan gasket you drop in during a service or after a rebuild. The pickup filter screens debris and clutch material out of the fluid before it reaches the pump; once it clogs or the media breaks down you get delayed engagement, slipping, a whine off the pump, and eventually a unit that will not build pressure. Changing it is the cheapest thing you can do to keep a 42RLE alive.

It replaces Chrysler part numbers 58013 and 68059549AA and covers the common 42RLE applications: 2003-2011 Jeep Wrangler TJ and JK, 2003-2013 Jeep Liberty, 2004-2011 Dodge Dakota, 2004-2009 Durango, 2005-2008 Magnum, 2007-2012 Nitro, 2006-2010 Charger, 2009-2010 Challenger, 2005-2010 Chrysler 300, and the 2006-2009 Mitsubishi Raider that shared the transmission. Confirm the 42RLE fitment for your year and body before you order, since some of these platforms were also built with other automatics.

On the bench the job is straightforward. Drop or drain the pan, pull the old filter straight down off the valve body pickup, clean the pan and the magnet, and set the new filter until the seal seats in the bore. Lay the fresh gasket dry (no RTV needed on a 42RLE pan) and torque the pan bolts evenly in a cross pattern to spec so you do not warp the flange and cause a leak. Refill with Mopar ATF+4, run it up to temperature, and set the level off the hot marks. Fluid and ATF+4 are not included. Ships from the USA.
