45-Piece Transmission and Fuel Line Disconnect Tool Set

Every transmission that comes out has cooler lines on it, and the quick-connect fittings GM, Ford and Chrysler use will not come apart with a screwdriver. The internal garter spring has to be spread evenly all the way around the fitting, which is exactly what these split collars do. Slide the right size over the line, push it into the fitting until the spring releases, and pull the line free with the fitting intact and reusable.

The set covers 45 pieces in three styles. Seven white scissor-type disconnects handle 1/4 in (6mm), 5/16 in (8mm), 3/8 in (9.5mm), 1/2 in (13mm), 5/8 in (16mm), 3/4 in (19mm) and 7/8 in (22mm). Twelve blue and green fuel line disconnects cover the same seven sizes in the one-piece and hinged styles used on domestic fuel rails and cooler circuits. Six A/C spring-lock coupling tools handle 3/8, 1/2, 5/8 and 3/4 in fittings. The remainder are the hose clamp and scissor tools that get you at fittings buried behind a crossmember.

This is the difference between dropping a transmission in an afternoon and spending an hour under the truck with a pick. Do not cut the cooler line - once you nick the tube, a cheap fitting turns into a hard line replacement, and on many trucks that line runs the length of the frame. The tools are color coded by size so you are not test-fitting four of them in the dark, and they are made from reinforced plastic and Q235 steel so they do not split the first time a fitting fights back.
