Seating a bearing race or a metal-clad seal by tapping around the edge with a punch is how you end up with a cocked race, a scored bore, or a seal that leaks the day you fill the transmission. The right way is to press it in flat with a driver that matches the outside diameter, and that is exactly what this kit is for. It gives you fifty hardened discs stepped in 1mm increments from 18mm all the way to 65mm, plus a 74mm disc, so you can find one that sits just inside the bore lip and drives the part straight down.
The discs thread onto a 12mm shaft that runs through a long 180mm handle, so you strike the end of the handle and the force lands dead-center on the part instead of off to one side. That single-axis push is what keeps a race or seal square as it goes in. We reach for this on axle and wheel bearing jobs, but it earns its keep on the bench pressing case bushings, pump bushings, and extension-housing seals on transmission work where a leaning seal means pulling it all back apart.
The discs are carbon steel with a black oxide finish so they shrug off shop humidity, and the whole set drops into a blow-molded case with a pocket cut for every piece, so you can tell at a glance if one walked off. With fifty sizes on hand you stop improvising with sockets that are almost-but-not-quite right, and start driving seals and races the way the service manual actually shows.
