Replaces the Ford 6F35 valve body with its shift solenoids already installed, curing harsh 2-3 shifts, flare and slipping on 2015-2019 Escape and Fusion.
This is a complete valve body for the Ford 6F35 six-speed transaxle with the shift solenoids already installed on it, replacing OE assembly CV6Z-7G391-A. You are not transferring your old solenoid pack onto a bare casting - the solenoid body comes bolted on and wired to the internal connector, so the unit goes in as one piece. It fits 2015-2018 Ford Edge, 2015-2019 Ford Escape, 2015-2019 Ford Explorer, 2015-2019 Ford Fusion and 2015-2017 Ford Taurus.
The 6F35 valve body is a wear item, and it wears in two places. The aluminum bores that the pressure control and shift valves ride in go oval, so line pressure bleeds off past the valve instead of holding a clutch applied. At the same time the solenoids themselves silt up with clutch material and stop responding cleanly to the TCM. The result is the complaint list every 6F35 shop knows: a harsh or banging 2-3 shift, a flare between gears where engine speed runs away before the next clutch takes, slipping under light throttle, delayed engagement when you drop it into drive cold, and gear-ratio and solenoid-performance codes that come back a few days after you clear them. Replacing individual solenoids on a body with worn bores buys you a few weeks; replacing the assembly is the actual repair.
Bench and install sequence: drain the fluid, drop the pan, and pull the filter. Unplug the internal wiring connector at the valve body, back out the valve body bolts in a spiral from the outside in, and lower the assembly straight down so you do not drag the separator plate or drop a check ball. Note which check balls and any accumulator springs sit in the case before the old body clears it. Set the new body up, start every bolt by hand before torquing any of them, reconnect the internal connector, and fit a new filter and pan gasket. Refill through the fill plug and set the level at the specified fluid temperature - the 6F35 has no dipstick on most of these applications, so level is set by temperature and the overflow tube, not by quantity poured in.
Clear the adaptive shift tables with a scan tool after the install and drive the vehicle through a relearn. A new valve body with the old adapts still loaded will shift badly and read like a bad part when it is not. Professional installation is recommended.
