A dedicated bushing driver set for the GM 6L80 and 6L90 six-speed automatics used in 2006-up Chevy, GMC, Cadillac, Hummer, Pontiac and Holden vehicles. It replaces the 104BDMK style 6L80 driver kit and includes seven stepped bushing drivers and two driver handles.
Each driver head is sized to one bushing diameter, with a pilot that centers in the bore and a shoulder that bears on the bushing edge. That keeps the bushing square as it goes in and spreads the load so you do not gouge or egg the aluminum case bore. The set also helps seat the front seal evenly.
On the bench, match the driver to the bushing, drive the old bushing out, clean the bore, start the new bushing straight by hand and tap it home with the handle until it is flush or at the depth the service manual calls for. Worn 6L80 bushings let pump and drum clearances open up, which bleeds off clutch apply pressure and leads to slipping and flare codes, so this is a normal step in any 6L80 overhaul.
