A140E Transmission Rebuild Kit with Frictions and Steels

A complete soft-parts rebuild for the Toyota A140E (and non-electronic A140) four-speed transaxle: the overhaul gasket and seal kit, the friction kit and the steel kit together in one box. It replaces the B065820B, B065880B and W065881B kits.

Listed fitment: 1983-1991 Camry 2.0L, 1984-1986 Camry 1.8L, 1992-2001 Camry 2.2L, 1994-1999 Celica 2.2L and 1999-2001 Solara 2.2L. Confirm the transmission tag says A140E or A140 before ordering, since the A541E V6 unit looks similar from the outside.

These units wear out the overdrive and forward clutches first and usually show up with a flare on the 3-4 shift or a delayed engagement into drive. Having the steels in the kit matters here: old steels on a high-mileage A140E are often heat-spotted or cupped, and putting new frictions against them brings the slip right back. Soak the frictions in ATF before install, check each pack clearance, and inspect the drums and bushings while the unit is open.
