A140E Transmission Master Rebuild Kit Toyota Camry

Master overhaul set for the Toyota A140E four-speed automatic, the FWD unit Toyota ran behind the 1S, 3S-FE and 5S-FE four-cylinders for nearly twenty years. It covers the wear parts you replace on a full teardown: friction plates, steel plates, the complete gasket set and the rubber seal, O-ring and sealing ring package. Sold as an A140 / A140E replacement set, so it drops into the same clutch packs and pump the factory unit came with.

Fitment covers 1984-1986 Camry 1.8L, 1983-1991 Camry 2.0L, 1992-2001 Camry 2.2L, 1994-1999 Celica 2.2L and 1999-2001 Solara 2.2L. Confirm the case tag reads A140E (the A140L, A141E and A142 variants share a family but not every clutch stack) before you order.

On the bench this is the kit you lay out after the case is split and the drums are stripped. Air test each clutch pack before you soak the new frictions, then soak them in ATF for at least 20 minutes so they do not glaze on the first apply. Set clutch clearance with the selective steels rather than assuming the stack height is right, and replace the pump and extension housing seals while the unit is on the bench. These boxes typically come in for delayed or slipping 2-3 shifts, a burnt direct clutch, or a front pump seal leak that has been dragging fluid down the bellhousing.

What this kit does not include: hard parts. If the drum is cracked, the bushings are scored or the pump gears are worn, source those separately. This is the soft-parts overhaul package.
