A540E Transmission Master Rebuild Kit for Toyota Camry

A complete master rebuild kit for the Toyota A540E electronic 4-speed transaxle and its all-wheel-drive A540H sibling. This is the unit behind the 1992-1993 Camry 2.2L and 3.0L V6, the 1992-1993 Lexus ES300, and the 1998-2000 Sienna 3.0L V6.

By the time these transaxles come in they usually have a slipping 2-4 or overdrive clutch, a harsh or delayed engagement from hardened piston seals, or a pan full of friction material after years of skipped fluid changes. A master kit covers the soft parts you replace on every teardown, so one box takes the unit from core to reassembly.

On the bench: tear down and clean the case, inspect the drums, planetaries and pump for scoring before ordering hard parts, soak the new frictions in fresh Toyota Type T-IV compatible ATF for at least 20 minutes, then set clutch clearances to the factory spec as you stack each pack. Match your old gaskets and seals against the new ones before you throw anything away, and confirm your transaxle tag reads A540E, A540H or A540 before ordering.
