Replaces the TF242 / 58934 spin-on-style filter and pan gasket on the Chrysler A604 41TE 40TE four-speed used in Caravan, Town and Country, PT Cruiser and Neon.
Service filter and pan gasket set for the Chrysler A604 four-speed transaxle, later badged 40TE, 41TE and 41TES. It replaces filter numbers TF242 and 58934 and drops straight into the sump the way the original did. This is the transmission that lives under most front-wheel-drive Chrysler, Dodge and Plymouth minivans and sedans, so it is one of the most common filter changes on the bench.
Coverage runs across the 1989 to 2020 span of the unit: Dodge Caravan and Grand Caravan, Journey, Avenger, Neon, Spirit and Stratus, Chrysler 200, Cirrus, Pacifica, PT Cruiser, Sebring, Town and Country and Voyager. If the vehicle has the A604 / 41TE four-speed automatic, this is the filter it takes. Confirm your unit before ordering, since some later cars moved to the 62TE six-speed.
On the bench the job is simple: drop the pan, pull the old filter off the valve body pickup, seat the new filter until the neck seal is home, lay the new pan gasket dry, and torque the pan bolts evenly. Do it every fluid service. A filter that is packed with clutch material and varnish starves the pump, and on the A604 that shows up as delayed engagement, harsh or slipping shifts and a whine that climbs with line pressure. Fresh filter and clean fluid is the cheapest insurance this transmission has.
