Frictions, steels, gaskets, seals and O-rings to overhaul a Hyundai or Kia A6LF1, A6LF2 or A6LF3 six-speed automatic on the bench.
This is a master overhaul kit for the Hyundai/Kia A6LF six-speed transverse automatic -- A6LF1, A6LF2 and A6LF3. It covers 2010-2015 Sonata 2.0L and 2.4L, 2012-2015 Tucson 2.0L, 2015 Elantra Limited and Sport 2.0L, and 2011-2014 Azera GLS 3.3L. Manufacturer part number ING-I12D0401. It is the soft-parts side of the rebuild: friction plates, steel plates, the gasket set, and the seals and O-rings that go back in the case.
The A6LF has a well known wear pattern. High mileage units start slipping on the 2-6 brake and the underdrive clutch, throw ratio codes, and flare between gears because the frictions have glazed and the case and piston seals no longer hold apply pressure. Once a unit is that far gone, replacing one clutch pack does not fix it -- the rest of the packs and every seal in the unit have the same miles on them. That is what this kit is for: you strip the transaxle to bare hard parts and put fresh frictions, steels and sealing rings in all of it at once.
On the bench, plan the job around measurement. Air check each clutch drum after you stack it so you know the piston is sealing before the unit goes back together, and set clutch clearance with the selective steels rather than assuming the stack is right out of the box. Soak the frictions in the correct Hyundai SP-IV type fluid before assembly. The pump and valve body come off the old unit, so inspect the solenoid bores and the pressure control solenoids while the case is apart -- this kit does not include solenoids, a filter, a torque converter, or hard parts.
