About this product

This is a complete eight-piece solenoid set for the Hyundai/Kia A6MF1 six-speed automatic transaxle, and it also covers the closely related A6LF1, A6LF2, A6LF3 and A6MF2 units. The kit contains six variable force (linear) pressure control solenoids and two on/off shift solenoids - the full complement that bolts into the valve body, so you are not chasing one bad solenoid at a time. The solenoids are remanufactured and flow-tested before shipping and carry a 24-month replacement guarantee.

Fitment is by transmission code, not by badge. The A6MF1 and A6MF2 are the transverse six-speed used behind 2.0L-2.4L four cylinders in the Sonata, Santa Fe, Tucson, Optima, Sorento, Sportage and Forte; the A6LF1/A6LF2/A6LF3 are the same family in other applications. Pull the transmission code off the tag on the case or the VIN build sheet before ordering - Hyundai and Kia used several six-speed transaxles across the same model years and the valve bodies are not interchangeable.

These are the solenoids behind the codes techs see over and over on this unit: P0748, P0778 and P0798 on the pressure control circuits, plus flare shifts, a delayed or banging 1-2, torque converter clutch shudder and the limp-in that locks the car in third. The linear solenoids drift out of calibration as the windings age and the ATF gets dirty, so by the time one has set a code the rest are usually close behind. That is why this is sold as a full set - replacing a single solenoid on a unit with 120k on it typically buys you a few months before the next one drops.

On the bench: drop the pan, pull the filter, unplug the internal harness connectors and unbolt the valve body. The solenoids are retained by small bracket screws - note which solenoid came out of which bore, because the linear solenoids look alike but are not all the same part. Transfer one at a time, replace the small O-rings on the snouts, and torque the retaining screws lightly; they thread into aluminum and will strip. Reset the adaptive shift memory after the repair or the trans control module will keep applying the old pressure corrections to the new solenoids and the shifts will feel wrong.
