Complete A6MF1 valve body with the shift solenoids already installed, for Hyundai Sonata, Santa Fe and Tucson and Kia Sorento, Optima and Sportage.
This is the full valve body assembly for the Hyundai/Kia A6MF 6-speed front-wheel-drive transaxle, and the shift solenoids come already mounted to it. The same casting covers the A6MF1 and A6MF2, and the A6LF1, A6LF2 and A6LF3 used behind the larger engines. Fitment runs across the 2009-2017 Sonata, 2009-2017 Santa Fe, 2009-2017 Tucson, 2011-2017 Azera and the 2011 Veracruz on the Hyundai side, and the 2011-2017 Sorento, 2012-2014 Optima, 2010-2014 Sportage and 2014-2017 Cadenza on the Kia side. Housing is cast aluminum, and the assembly weighs just under 13 pounds in the box.
The complaints that send a A6MF unit to the bench are almost always solenoid-side: harsh or banging 2-3 and 3-4 shifts, a long delay before the transmission engages after a cold start, flare between gears, torque converter clutch shudder at light throttle, and eventually a drop into limp with the transmission stuck in one gear. On these units the solenoids are matched to the valve body and are not sold as loose parts you can swap one at a time, so chasing a single bad solenoid usually turns into replacing the assembly anyway. Buying it complete gets you a valve body whose solenoid resistances already match each other.
On the bench, drop the pan and filter, unplug the internal harness connector, pull the manual valve link, and back out the valve body bolts working from the outside in so the separator plate does not cock. Note bolt lengths as they come out - they are not all the same on this case. Set the new assembly on with the manual valve engaged to the detent lever before you start any bolts, then torque in a criss-cross pattern from the middle out. Fit a new pan gasket and filter, refill through the fill plug to the correct level at operating temperature, and reset the TCM adaptive values with a scan tool before the road test. Skipping the adaptive reset is the usual reason a good valve body still shifts badly for the first few hundred miles.
