A760E Transmission Master Rebuild Kit for Lexus IS250

This is a full master overhaul kit for the Aisin A760E six-speed automatic, the rear-wheel-drive unit Toyota and Lexus ran from the mid-2000s on. It also covers the A761E, which is the same gearbox built for all-wheel-drive applications. The kit carries OE overhaul references W188881A, B188820A and B188880A -- check yours against the tag on the case before you order, because the A760 family shares a lot of external hardware with units that take a different kit.

Confirmed fitment includes 2006-2009 Lexus IS250 2.5L and IS350 3.5L, 2007-2008 GS350 3.5L, 2006-2007 GS430 4.3L, 2006 GS300 3.0L, 2006-2008 SC430 4.3L, 2004-2005 LS430 4.3L, and 2005-up Toyota Crown. If your car is all-wheel drive you are looking at the A761E variant, which this kit also serves.

What you get is the wear set for a complete bench rebuild: the clutch friction plates and steels for the unit's clutch packs, plus the full rubber and gasket set -- lip seals, sealing rings, O-rings and the pan gasket. That is everything that hardens, glazes or wears during normal service life. Hard parts such as drums, shafts, the pump and the valve body are not included and are reused from your core, so inspect those before you tear down.

On the bench, work the clutch packs one at a time and measure clearance as you stack each one rather than assuming the new frictions match the old stack height -- new plates are thicker and clearance will come up short if you just swap plate for plate. Soak the frictions in clean ATF before assembly. When the case goes back together, verify end play before you button up the extension housing. If the reason the unit is on the bench was a shift-quality complaint rather than slipping, pull and inspect the valve body and solenoids as well, since a friction kit will not fix an electrical or hydraulic control fault.
