This is AVID POWER's ACIW1002 kit: a 20V brushless 1/2 inch square drive impact wrench rated at 1200 N.m (900 ft-lbs) of nut-busting torque, shipped with two 4.0Ah battery packs, a 60 minute fast charger, four impact sockets (11/16, 3/4, 13/16 and 15/16 inch) and a carry bag. The tool is 14.8 inches long and the kit weighs 9.7 pounds packed.
Under a truck it earns its keep on the fasteners that fight you. Crossmember bolts, bellhousing bolts, driveshaft strap bolts and torque converter cover bolts all come out faster on 900 ft-lbs than on a 1/2 inch breaker bar with your shoulder in a transmission tunnel. Two batteries matters here more than the torque number does: a transmission R and R runs long, and a single pack rarely covers the pull and the reinstall without a charge break.
Three speed modes plus a variable trigger keep it usable on the way back in. Low mode runs 0 to 1500 RPM for starting fasteners and for anything going into aluminum, medium runs 0 to 2000 RPM, and high runs 0 to 2600 RPM for the rusted stuff. Pan bolts, valve body bolts and case bolts still get set with a torque wrench, not with this. Use the gun to run them down, then click them to spec.
The brake stop function only works in reverse, and that is the mode where it counts: the anvil stops the moment the nut breaks loose so it does not spin off and drop into the bellhousing or off a lift. A built-in LED lights the socket when the trigger is pulled, which is the difference between finding the top bellhousing bolt and feeling for it.
