



Splits a bearing or gear off a shaft the right way, wedging behind it and pressing it straight off instead of hammering and mushrooming the shaft end.
Getting a pressed-on bearing or gear off a shaft is one of those jobs that goes bad fast if you try to muscle it. Tap behind it with a chisel and you gouge the shaft; heat it and pry and you cook the temper or send the bearing flying. A bearing separator does it the way the shop manual shows: the split collar closes behind the bearing race and grips it evenly all the way around, then the puller bar and forcing screw press against the shaft end and walk the bearing straight off with nothing but turns of a wrench.
This 14-piece set gives you both a 2 inch and a 3 inch separator, so you can match the collar to the bearing instead of forcing one size onto everything. You get the 5 inch cross-bar puller with a 6-1/4 inch forcing screw and four push-puller legs that thread into the separators, and every piece is drop-forged and heat-treated steel rated to 5 tons, so it takes the load without spreading or stripping. The separators also work on their own as a bench fixture, cradling a part in a vise while you press or drive on it.
On the bench it earns its keep pulling bearings off input and output shafts, splitting gears and press-fit collars, and pressing pilot and pinion bearings, and the pieces mix and match with slide hammers and other pullers you already own. Everything drops into a fitted case so the legs and screws do not scatter across the toolbox. Buy it once and stop improvising with sockets and a hammer every time something is pressed on a shaft.
