A steel bench stand that holds a manual transmission case upright and steady while you work on it. The case bolts to the stand through its own bellhousing bolt pattern, so the whole assembly sits square on the bench instead of rolling around on its side or resting on the output shaft. It fits Bert and Brinn racing transmissions and GM 3-speed and 4-speed manual boxes.
Working a manual trans on the bare bench is where parts get damaged. Laid on its side the case wants to roll, the input shaft takes the weight, and gear sets and shift forks come out at an angle. With the case fixed vertically you can pull the tail housing, drop the cluster, and set the countershaft with both hands free, and the same fixture holds it while you torque the case bolts back down in sequence.
