Support plates and adjustable columns that hold hubs, bearings and bushings square under a hydraulic shop press up to 30 tons so nothing slips.
A hydraulic press is only as good as what you set the part on. This kit gives you a proper support base for a shop press up to 30 tons: two support plates drilled with multiple threaded hole positions, adjustable support columns, support bars, locator plates, and the bolts, nuts and washers to lock it all down. Instead of balancing a hub on two lengths of bar stock and hoping, you bolt the columns into the hole pattern that matches the part and press against a flat, captive surface.
The columns thread into the plate at several positions, so you can open the span wide for a front hub assembly or close it down for a control arm bushing or a small transmission bushing. The three-point support layout is what keeps an irregular casting from walking sideways when the ram loads up. Locator plates sit under round and uneven parts to keep the load centered on the bearing race rather than on the housing.
Typical bench jobs: pressing wheel bearings in and out of knuckles, separating hubs from bearings, driving control arm and trailing arm bushings, and installing bushings in transmission cases and extension housings. The failure this prevents is the expensive one -- a part shifting under several tons of load, cocking the bearing, and either cracking the housing or launching the piece off the press table.
Manufacturer part number B1091796. Ships as a complete accessory set; the press itself is not included. Kit weight is 17.62 lb, so it stays put on the press bolster.
