Pulls and presses the rubber transfer case mount bushing on BMW E90, E60 and F10 xDrive gearboxes without dropping the subframe.
The rubber mount bushing that carries the transfer case against the transmission on BMW xDrive cars is pressed into the case housing, and it does not come out with a pry bar. When it tears, the transfer case shifts under load and you get a driveline clunk on throttle transitions, a vibration that comes and goes with load, and eventually a leak where the bushing bore gets worked oval. This kit is the press setup that pulls the old bushing and drives the new one in squarely while the unit is still in the car.
It covers the ATC300, ATC350, ATC35L and ATC450 transfer cases, which puts it on BMW 3 Series E90, E91 and E92 from 2005 to 2014, 5 Series E60, E61, F07, F10 and F11 from 2003 to 2017, 7 Series F01 and F02 from 2008 to 2015, and X1 E84 from 2009 to 2015. It replaces BMW special tools 221 040, 221 041, 221 042, 221 043, 221 044, 221 045 and 221 046.
Working it is straightforward: you drop the transfer case heat shield and exhaust support, pick the puller cup and the drive plate that match the bushing bore, run the forcing screw to draw the old bushing out into the cup, then flip to the install side and press the replacement in until the shoulder bottoms. Because the load is taken on the forcing screw and not on a hammer, you are not shocking the aluminum housing and you are not chasing a cocked bushing halfway in.
All seven pieces plus the spindles and nuts are cut in the foam of a hard case, so a shop can hand it out and get it back complete. Shipped from the USA.
