Chevrolet S10 Clutch Kit with Slave Cylinder, 2.2L

Complete hydraulic clutch replacement for the 2.2L four-cylinder S10, Sonoma and Isuzu Hombre. The kit covers Chevrolet S10 1996-2003, GMC Sonoma 1996-2003 and Isuzu Hombre 1996-2000, all with the L4 2.2L and a manual 5-speed. It supersedes part numbers 04-155, 04-156, 04155, 04156, L04155 and 624280677, and ships as A-Premium APCLK175.

In the box: pressure plate, clutch disc, clutch slave cylinder, pilot bearing and an alignment tool. The disc is 9.06 in with 26 splines on a 1.17 in input shaft, and the cover measures 11.14 in across. On the bench, drive the old pilot bearing out of the crank, seat the new one, hang the disc with the alignment tool (long side of the hub toward the transmission), then pull the pressure plate down in a criss-cross pattern a few turns at a time so the cover does not distort. Replace the slave cylinder while the transmission is out - it is the part you do not want to chase after the truck is back together - and bleed the system at the bleeder until the pedal comes up firm and the fluid runs clear of air.

These trucks come apart for one of three reasons: the disc is worn to the rivets and slips in third and fourth under throttle, the friction surface is glazed or oil-soaked and chatters off the line, or the hydraulics have gone soft and the clutch will not fully release, so the transmission fights you going into first and reverse at a stop. Because the transmission has to come out either way, replacing the disc, cover, pilot bearing and slave cylinder as one job is the only version of this repair that does not get done twice.
