A five-piece aluminum seal driver set for heavy truck and trailer wheel ends. The drivers cover 4-13/16 in., 5-11/16 in., 5-31/32 in., 6 in., and 6-5/16 in. hub bores, which is the range you run into on over-the-road tractors and trailer axles from Freightliner, Peterbilt, Kenworth, and International. A handle extension threads on so you can reach the seal bore down inside a brake drum instead of pulling the drum off first.
On the bench or on the axle, pick the driver that matches the seal OD, start the seal square in the bore by hand, seat the driver flat against the seal case, and tap it home with a rubber mallet. Because the driver contacts the full circumference of the seal case, the seal goes in level instead of cocking on one side. The drivers are aircraft-grade aluminum rather than steel, so if you glance the hub bore or the bearing cup face you scuff the tool, not the part.
The failure this prevents is the one that costs a second trip: a hub seal knocked in crooked or driven with a punch and hammer, which distorts the case, wipes the lip against the spindle, and starts weeping oil onto the brake shoes within a few hundred miles. Set ships in a molded storage case so the five drivers and the extension stay together.
