One adjustable tool set that centers the clutch disc on any flywheel, so the transmission input shaft slides home instead of hanging up on a cocked disc.
Anyone who has done a clutch knows the moment it all goes wrong: everything is bolted up, and now the transmission will not slide the last half inch because the disc drifted off center when you snugged the pressure plate. The splined input shaft has to thread through the disc hub and into the pilot bearing, and if the disc is off by even a little, the shaft binds and you are stuck fighting a heavy transmission on a jack. The fix is to center the disc before you ever torque the cover, and that is exactly what this kit does the right way.
The trick is the expanding mandrel. Instead of a bin of one-size plastic aligners that are close-but-not-quite, this set gives you three steel spindles with expanding mandrels that grip the pilot bore snugly, covering 0.59 to 0.75 inch, 0.78 to 1.05 inch, and 0.9 to 1.42 inch. Eight pilot bearing adapters and six rubber washers let you dial the fit to the disc hub and the pilot bearing on the engine, so the tool holds the disc dead center while you tighten the pressure plate. Pull the aligner, and the shaft drops straight in.
Because it adjusts rather than relying on a single fixed diameter, one kit covers most cars, light trucks, and SUVs, plus the LS and GM swaps people are always chasing an aligner for, and it has worked for owners on everything from a Subaru to a Kubota tractor. The spindles are 45# structural steel with a chrome-plated finish, so they take real torque without flexing or scratching the disc, and the whole thing reuses job after job instead of the throwaway plastic tool that comes taped inside a clutch kit. If you do clutches more than once, this pays for itself the first time a transmission slides in on the first try.
