Clutch Kit with Alignment Tool Hyundai Accent 1.6L Manual

This is the whole clutch job in one box for the 1.6L manual-transaxle Hyundai and Kia small cars: 2012-2017 Accent, 2012-2017 Veloster, and 2012-2018 Kia Rio. It replaces OE part numbers 24-022, 05-082 and 24-010. The car has to be a manual - the 1.6L automatic and dual-clutch versions of these platforms use a different setup entirely, so confirm you have a clutch pedal and a three-pedal transaxle before you order.

What is in the box: a 10.31 inch pressure plate, an 8.46 inch outside-diameter organic clutch disc with a 0.89 inch 20-spline hub and four springs, a release bearing, and a plastic clutch alignment tool. Those four pieces are what actually wear out together, and doing them as a set is the only sane way to work - the transaxle has to come out either way, and coming back in six months for a release bearing that started chirping means pulling it a second time for no reason.

On the bench, check the disc hub against your input shaft before anything else: 0.89 inch, 20 splines, and it should slide on dry with light hand pressure. If it binds, clean the splines - do not force it, and do not pack the splines with grease, since it slings off onto the friction face and gives you a grabbing, chattering clutch. A light film of the high-temp lube on the splines is all it takes. Torque the pressure plate bolts down in a criss-cross pattern in two or three passes so the cover pulls in flat and the diaphragm fingers stay in plane.

The alignment tool is the part people skip and then regret. With the disc hanging loose behind the pressure plate the input shaft will not find the splines, and you end up hanging a transaxle on a jack trying to wobble it home. Slide the tool through the disc into the pilot area, snug the cover bolts against it, pull the tool, and the disc is centered. The kit ships at 12.5 pounds.
