Disc, pressure plate, release bearing and alignment tool to redo the clutch in a manual Toyota Corolla, Matrix, Celica, Vibe or Prizm.
This is a complete clutch replacement set for the Toyota manual transaxle family, Valeo part number 52125203. The box holds four pieces: the friction disc, the pressure plate (clutch cover), the release bearing, and a plastic alignment tool. Everything is new, not remanufactured, so you are not putting a rebuilt cover with a tired diaphragm back against a fresh disc. Shipping weight is 12.52 lb and the carton runs 13 x 13.5 x 2.8 inches.
Valeo lists 52125203 for Toyota Corolla 1993-2006, Matrix 2003-2008, Celica 1992-1997 and 2000-2005, MR2 Spyder 2000-2005, Yaris 2006-2014, Echo 2000-2005, Scion xA 2004-2006, xB 2004-2006 and xD 2008-2014, Pontiac Vibe 2003-2008, and Geo/Chevrolet Prizm 1993-2002. That list spans more than one transaxle, so before you order, match your old disc for diameter and spline count and check the 52125203 number against your application. If the disc in the car does not match, this is not your kit.
On the bench, pull the transaxle and inspect the flywheel first. Hot spots, heat checking, or a lip at the friction edge mean it gets resurfaced or replaced; a new disc against a glazed flywheel will chatter from day one. Clean the input shaft splines, slide the new disc on dry to confirm it moves freely, then wipe a light film of high-temp grease on the splines only, never on the friction face. Center the disc with the included alignment tool, start the pressure plate bolts by hand, and pull them down in a criss-cross pattern in two or three stages so the cover seats flat. While the trans is out, check the pilot bearing or bushing, the release fork and its pivot ball, and on hydraulic setups the slave cylinder and line.
This is the set you install when the clutch slips under load, when engine RPM climbs on a hill without the car speeding up, when you get shudder pulling away from a stop, or when the pedal no longer releases the disc cleanly and the trans grinds going into first or reverse. If the old disc came out soaked in oil, find and fix the rear main seal or the transaxle input shaft seal before the new one goes in, or it will be contaminated again in a few thousand miles.
