About this product

The clutch hydraulics on a 1997-2002 Jeep Wrangler TJ leave the factory as one sealed, pre-filled assembly: master cylinder on the firewall, hydraulic line, and slave cylinder on the bellhousing pushing the clutch fork. Chrysler never intended it to be opened, so there is no bleeder screw and no rebuild kit. When it fails you replace the whole run, and that is exactly what this is. It arrives filled and bled, so you hang it, connect it, and go.

The failures show up two ways. The master leaks internally past its seal and the pedal slowly sinks to the floor while the fluid level stays put, worst when the engine is hot. Or the slave leaks externally, you get fluid weeping out of the rubber boot at the bellhousing and down the back of the block, and the clutch stops fully disengaging so you grind going into first and reverse at a stop. Either symptom on a TJ means the assembly, not a part of it.

Fitment is 1997-2002 Jeep Wrangler and TJ with the 2.5L OHV 4-cylinder (150 c.i.) or the 4.0L OHV inline six (242 c.i.), which covers the AX-5, AX-15, and NV3550 manual boxes in those years. Manufacturer part number CPPS0119-3. It crosses to Mopar 52107652AB, 52107652AC, and 52107652AD, and to PS0119-3, CC649041, 136.67719, CM140986, and PF9085.

On the bench and under the Jeep: pull the driver-side inner fender access, unclip the master pushrod from the top of the clutch pedal, unbolt the two nuts holding the master to the firewall, then get under and pull the slave off the bellhousing studs. Feed the new line through the same firewall grommet without kinking it, seat the master, reconnect the pushrod, and torque the slave down. Keep the assembly upright and do not pop the shipping clip off the slave pushrod until it is bolted in place, or you lose the pre-bleed and there is no bleeder to fix it with. Pump the pedal a dozen times before you start the engine and check the pedal height.
