Folding Head Flare Nut Crowfoot Set 7-Piece SAE 3/8 Drive

Dynamic D010029: seven flare nut crowfoots in 3/8, 7/16, 1/2, 9/16, 5/8, 11/16 and 3/4 in. on a 3/8 in. drive. The head pivots through 200 degrees, so the tool works as a straight flare nut socket when there is room behind the fitting and as a crowfoot when there is not. You set the angle to whatever the car gives you and put the ratchet where your hand fits.

On a transmission the usual problem is the cooler line at the case. The fitting sits under the pan lip with the exhaust on one side and the crossmember on the other, and a straight socket wants six inches of clearance you do not have. Folding the head over lets you come in from the side and still load five flats of the nut instead of two.

The same set covers brake lines at the proportioning block, fuel lines, and air and hydraulic fittings. Because it takes a 3/8 in. drive you can put a torque wrench on it when a fitting has a spec - remember that a crowfoot set at 90 degrees to the handle changes the effective length and the applied torque.
