Ford 7.5 Differential Bearing Install Kit, ExCel XL-1045-1

ExCel XL-1045-1 is a complete bearing and install kit for the Ford 7.5 inch 10-bolt rear axle used in Ford, Mercury and Lincoln cars and light trucks from 1978 to 2013, including Mustang, Ranger, Thunderbird and Explorer applications that ran the 7.5. It replaces the Motive Gear F7.5FRMK.

The kit carries Koyo tapered bearings for the carrier and the inner and outer pinion, a pinion seal, crush sleeve (or preload shim pack), pinion nut, ring gear bolts, gear marking compound, thread locker and a cover gasket or RTV. That is everything needed for a new ring and pinion or for rebuilding a rear that has started to whine or has a leaking pinion seal.

Press the new races in, set pinion depth, crush the new sleeve to preload, then set backlash and carrier preload and read the pattern with the marking compound before you button it up. A worn pinion bearing is the usual source of a whine that changes on and off throttle, and this kit replaces every bearing in the housing in one go.
