Threads into the 5R55W/5R55S fill plug on Ford Explorer, Ranger, Mountaineer and Explorer Sport Trac so you can pump ATF up into the pan from below without a dealer fill tube.
These Ford 5R55W and 5R55S transmissions have no dipstick. You set the fluid level at the fill plug on the side of the pan with the truck running and the pan at operating temperature, and there is no easy way to get fluid up into that hole with a funnel. This adapter is the piece that makes the bottom-fill service possible.
It replaces Ford special tool 307-437 and OTC 6604. The brass fitting threads into the fill plug port and the barbed end takes a standard fluid pump hose, so you can pump Mercon V straight into the transmission from a bottle or a hand pump. Improved barb design holds the hose without it blowing off under pump pressure.
