GM 8.5 10-Bolt 3.42 Ring and Pinion with Master Install Kit

This bundle pairs a Motive Gear GM10-342A 3.42 ring and pinion with an R10RMK master install kit, so the gears and the bearings for a GM 10-bolt regear or rebuild show up together. The gear set is standard rotation, 8.5 in ring gear diameter, with 41 ring gear teeth and 12 pinion teeth.

Fitment: GM 8.5 in and 8.625 in 10-bolt axles found in Chevy and GMC 1500 trucks and SUVs, Camaros, Chevelles and many other GM rear-wheel-drive cars. The R10RMK kit includes Koyo tapered pinion and carrier bearings, a pinion seal, pinion nut, crush sleeve and preload shim pack, cover gasket, marking compound and a brush. Confirm your axle is the 8.5/8.625 by the 10-bolt cover and the ring gear size before ordering.

A 3.42 is the common swap for a truck or car that came with 2.73 or 3.08 gears and now needs more pull for towing or bigger tires, and it is also the stock ratio for a lot of these axles when the old gears are chipped or whining. Set up the pinion depth first, then crush-sleeve preload, backlash and the contact pattern with the included compound. Break in new gears with easy driving for the first few hundred miles and change the gear oil after that.
