Idemitsu Type TLS-LV WS ATF Transmission Fluid, 10 Quart

Two five-quart jugs, ten quarts total, of Idemitsu ATF Type TLS-LV. This is the WS-specification fluid for Toyota, Lexus, and Scion automatic transmissions. Idemitsu is the original supplier behind a large share of the OE fluid that goes into these units, so this is the same chemistry in a different bottle rather than an aftermarket approximation of it.

Ten quarts is the quantity that actually matters for these transmissions. A pan drop and drain on a U660E, U760E, or a similar unit takes roughly four quarts, but the WS units are sealed and hold considerably more than the pan - a proper fluid exchange, or a drain-fill-drive-repeat cycle to get the old fluid out, runs eight to twelve quarts. Buying one jug at a time means stopping mid-service. Level is set through the overflow plug at a specific fluid temperature using the check procedure, not a dipstick, so have the temperature reading available before you pull the plug.

The fluid is a low-viscosity full synthetic with the friction characteristics WS calls for: anti-shudder performance for the lockup converter, which is the usual complaint on a high-mileage WS unit, plus oxidation and thermal breakdown resistance so it survives the long intervals Toyota specifies. Flash point is 165C. It is for step automatics only - do not put it in a Toyota CVT, which takes a different fluid entirely.
