46-Piece Impact Bolt Extractor and Stud Remover Set

A 46-piece extraction set for the bolts that round off, snap, or seize on a transmission job. Bellhousing bolts that have been in a rusted crossmember for fifteen years, pan bolts someone gorilla-torqued into a warped flange, converter cover bolts chewed up by a slipping socket, and cooler line brackets that shear at the head are all everyday problems on the bench. This kit gives you three different ways to grab a damaged fastener instead of reaching for a torch.

The bolt extractors are spiral-fluted impact sockets in 1/4", 5/16", 3/8", 7/16", 1/2", 9/16", 5/8", 11/16" and 3/4", plus metric-equivalent 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18 and 19 mm sizes. They bite tighter the harder you turn, so a rounded hex head or a stripped nut still comes out with an impact gun or a breaker bar. Four deep extractors in 17, 19, 21 and 22 mm reach recessed heads down in a case pocket where a standard-depth extractor bottoms out.

For fasteners that have already broken off flush, the set includes six hand extractors (#1 through #6) and thirteen multi-spline screw extractors from 1/8" up to 1/2". Drill a pilot in the center of the broken stud, tap the spline extractor in, and back it out. A knockout pin is included to drive the broken piece out of the extractor when you are done, along with a 3/8" hex adapter and a 3/8"-to-1/2" drive adapter so the sockets work off whatever gun or ratchet is already on the bench.

Extractors are Cr-Mo steel with a phosphate and black-oxide finish, and the whole set stores in a blow-molded case that stays organized in a rolling cart. Set weight is 7.2 lb.
