Lisle 39100 Ford Transmission Cooler Line Disconnect Set

This is the Lisle 39100, a two-piece set that pops apart the push-in transmission oil cooler line connectors Ford uses at the radiator and cooler. One tool handles the 3/8-inch line, the other the 1/2-inch line. Each has a stepped nose that slides over the tube and into the connector's release collar, so instead of trying to jam a screwdriver or your thumbnails into a fitting you can't see, you push the line in slightly to unload the retainer, seat the tool, and pull the line straight out.

Use the 3/8-inch tool on the 2003-2010 Ford Explorer with the V8, the 2004-and-later F150, and Cadillac CTS. Use the 1/2-inch tool on the Super Duty trucks: F250, F350 and F450. These are the lines you have to release to pull the transmission, swap a radiator, or replace a leaking cooler line, and the factory quick-connects will not budge without something shaped to reach the collar.

The bodies are molded nylon, so they slide into the fitting without scoring the tube or nicking the sealing surface the way a pick does. Keep both in the box with your cooler-line fittings; when a trans comes out on a Ford, this is a two-minute job with the right tool and a knuckle-busting fight without it.
