Pulls the yoke off a heavy-duty transmission output shaft or differential pinion without bending the ears, for yoke bearing diameters 1-7/8 to 2-3/16 inch.
The Lisle 60050 is a dedicated puller for the drive yokes on commercial truck transmissions and rear-end differentials. It clamps to the yoke ears and drives the yoke straight off the splined shaft, so the pull stays square and the yoke, the seal surface, and the output shaft threads all survive the job. It covers yokes with a bearing diameter between 1-7/8 inch and 2-3/16 inch, which is the range you run into on Class 6 through Class 8 trucks.
Setup is the whole job. Back the pinion or output nut off, seat the puller legs on the yoke ears with the supplied grade 8 bolts, center the forcing screw on the end of the shaft, and turn. Because the load is applied through the ears and pushed against the shaft centerline, the yoke comes off in line instead of cocking and galling the splines. All of the components are heat treated, so the legs do not spring and the forcing screw does not mushroom on a yoke that has been sitting in road salt for ten years.
The alternative is what most shops actually do: beat on the yoke with a hammer, wedge a pry bar behind it, or hit it with a two-jaw puller that slips off under load. That is how you end up with a bent yoke ear, a chewed slinger, a scored seal journal, and a driveline vibration you get to chase later. This tool is the reason that repair stays a yoke removal instead of turning into a yoke, seal, and shaft replacement. Kit weight is 12.38 lb and it ships with the grade 8 hardware included.
