Everything to service a Mopar ZF 8HP70: a new pan with built-in filter and gasket, drain and fill plugs, 13 bolts, and 6 liters of OE-spec German ATF.
This is a complete fluid-and-filter service kit for the Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep version of the ZF 8HP70 eight-speed automatic (Mopar service part 68225344). On these transmissions the filter is molded into the plastic oil pan, so a proper service means replacing the whole pan assembly, not just a paper element. The kit includes the pan with the filter already integrated, the pan gasket pre-installed, two magnets set in the pan to catch clutch material and wear metal, a new drain plug, thirteen pan bolts, a fill plug with a fresh seal ring, and six one-liter bottles of OE-spec ATF made in Germany.
Fitment covers the rear-wheel-drive and 4x4 8HP70 applications: RAM 1500 (2013-2019), Dodge Durango (2014-2019), Jeep Grand Cherokee (2014-2019), and Dodge Charger and Challenger (2015-2019). This is the standard-depth 8HP70 pan; it is not the deep pan used on the 845RE, so look up your transmission code by VIN before ordering if you are unsure which unit is under your truck.
The service itself is straightforward on a lift. Drop the old pan and let it drain, unbolt and discard it, then bolt the new pan-and-filter assembly up with the gasket that comes installed and torque the thirteen bolts in a crossing pattern. Refill through the fill plug on the side of the case, run the transmission through the gears, and set the level with the fluid brought into ZF's fill temperature window (roughly 86 to 113 degrees F) read on a scan tool, since these units have no dipstick. Most applications take a little over five liters, which is why the kit ships with six.
Old, heat-cycled fluid in an 8HP shows up as a harsh or hunting 1-2 shift, torque-converter shudder at light throttle, and eventually slipping. ZF and the vehicle makers call for a fluid service on these boxes, and trucks that tow or run in heat benefit from doing it well before the mileage limit. Fresh OE-spec fluid and a clean filter are the cheapest insurance against an expensive 8HP rebuild. Ships from the USA.
