Friction plates, steel plates and the full gasket and seal set for rebuilding the Honda MPXA five-speed automatic behind the 2.4L Accord.
This is a master rebuild kit for the Honda MPXA five-speed front-wheel-drive automatic, the unit Honda ran behind the 2.4L K24 in the 2003-2007 Accord. The same kit covers the closely related MPWA and MPJA cases used in the CR-V and Element, and the seller cross-references the older four-speed codes MPOA, APXA, A6VA, MP1A, BOYA and PX4B. Check the code stamped on the bellhousing pad before you order - Honda used a lot of three and four letter codes across this era and the clutch counts do not carry over between them.
The kit is the full soft-parts and clutch package: friction plates, matching steel plates, and the complete gasket and seal set. That is what a real overhaul needs. These Honda five-speeds almost always come apart with cooked third and fourth clutch packs - the classic symptom is a slip or flare on the 3-4 shift that gets worse as the fluid heats, often with a torque converter shudder at light throttle around 40 mph, and eventually a hard code and a limp into second. Burnt frictions dump material into the fluid, so a clean rebuild means new frictions and new steels together, not frictions alone.
On the bench, soak the new frictions in ATF for at least twenty minutes before assembly so they do not glaze on the first apply. Replace every lip seal and sealing ring while the drums are apart, check clutch clearance with a feeler gauge as you stack each pack, and set end play before the case goes back together. Flush the cooler and the lines before startup - leftover debris from the failed clutches is the fastest way to kill a fresh rebuild. Plan on a new torque converter or a properly cleaned one; the old converter holds the same material you just washed out of the case.
