This rebuild kit covers the Honda MPOA 4-speed automatic and the closely related units Honda coded APXA, MPXA, MPWA, PX4B, A6VA, BOYA, MP1A and MPJA (CD5 and CB7 chassis). It combines the overhaul kit (seals, gaskets, O-rings) with a full friction kit and a steel plate kit, so one box covers a complete clutch-pack job.

Honda automatics of this era use separate clutch packs on parallel shafts instead of bands, and the common failure is a worn 2nd or 3rd clutch that shows up as a flare or slip on the upshift and dark, burnt fluid. On the bench, disassemble the mainshaft and countershaft clutch drums, replace every friction and steel, soak the new frictions in Honda ATF before stacking, and check clutch clearance on each pack. Replace all seals from the overhaul kit, flush the cooler, and refill with Honda-spec ATF.
