Stage 2 carbon Kevlar clutch kit for the NSG370 six-speed behind the 3.8L Jeep Wrangler JK, rated at 264 hp and 283 lb-ft.
This is a complete Stage 2 clutch kit for the NSG370 six-speed manual behind the 3.8L OHV V6 in the 2007-2011 Jeep Wrangler JK, and it also covers the 5-speed 3.7L 2002-2004 Jeep Liberty KJ. The kit ships as pressure plate, carbon Kevlar-infused sprung disc, throw-out bearing, pilot bearing, alignment tool and instructions, so the only extra parts you need at the bench are a resurfaced or new flywheel and fresh hardware. Part number CP01046HD-ST2, and it interchanges with the common 01-046 and 01-059 kit numbers plus Mopar 52104315AA, 52104290AC, 5066375AA and 53008342 pieces.
The disc measures 10-3/8 inch by 1-1/8 inch on a 10-spline hub and the sprung center absorbs the driveline shock that the JK's long first gear and low t-case ratios throw at it. Rated capacity is 264 horsepower and 283 lb-ft, which puts it above the stock 3.8L output with headroom for a mild build, 35s, or steady trail work without turning the pedal into a leg workout.
On the bench, pull the transmission and t-case as an assembly, unbolt the pressure plate in a criss-cross pattern a turn at a time so the cover does not warp, then check the flywheel for hot spots and heat checking. This clutch has to sit on a flat surface. The kit's instructions call out removing the flywheel dowel pins before installation, so do that step before you set the disc. Use the supplied alignment tool, torque the pressure plate bolts evenly, and replace the pilot bearing while the crank is open. The usual failure that brings a JK owner here is a slipping or chattering original clutch after the release bearing gets noisy around the 80,000 mile mark.
