



Reaches into the crankshaft end and pulls a stuck pilot bearing straight out, so a clutch or manual trans job doesn't stall on the one part you can't get a grip on.
Every manual transmission and clutch job eventually lands on the same problem: the pilot bearing pressed into the back of the crankshaft has to come out, and there is no room behind it to get a puller or a slide hammer on the backside. Pack it with grease and pound a dowel to hydraulic it out and you make a mess and dent the crank; pry at it and you gouge the bore. This is the tool that grabs the bearing from the front and walks it out clean.
The jaws collapse to slide inside the bearing bore, then expand behind the inner race so they hook the back of the bearing where nothing else can reach. A restriction plate keeps the jaws from spinning while you turn the forcing screw, so they stay locked on the race instead of slipping off halfway out. Turn the screw down and the bearing draws straight out of the crank without cocking or scoring the bore, which is exactly what you want when a fresh bearing has to press back into that same seat.
