OEMTOOLS 27059 Pilot Bearing Puller Attachment for Slide Hammer

This is the OEMTOOLS 27059, a small two-jaw pilot bearing puller that threads onto the end of a slide hammer. It is an attachment only, not a standalone tool, so you need a slide hammer to use it. The threaded bore is cut for both common rod sizes, 5/8-18 and 3/4-16, so it screws onto most shop slide hammers, and it is built to pair with the OEMTOOLS 27033 hammer. The two tapered jaws slip through the center of a bearing, spread open behind it, and give the slide hammer something solid to pull against.

The job this tool is made for shows up every time you do a clutch on a manual-transmission vehicle. The pilot bearing or bushing sits down in the back of the crankshaft (or in the flywheel on some engines) and supports the nose of the transmission input shaft. It lives in a blind hole, so there is no way to drive it out from behind. If a needle pilot bearing still has its rollers in place, the jaws may not fit past them; knock the rollers and cage out first, then the tool bites the remaining shell cleanly.
