



Five-ton bar-type puller with 2 in and 3 in bearing splitters for pulling pressed-on bearings, gears and pulleys off transmission shafts without heat.
This is the bar-type puller you reach for when a bearing or gear is pressed onto a shaft and a jaw puller keeps slipping off. The kit centers on two drop-forged bearing splitters, 2 inch and 3 inch, with knife edges that seat behind the bearing race instead of grabbing the outer diameter. Once the splitter is clamped down with its two bolts, the bar-type puller head and 9/16 inch forcing screw pull straight and square against the shaft center.
On the bench it covers most of the pressed-on work in a rear-wheel-drive automatic or a manual gearbox: output shaft ball bearings, countershaft bearings, speedometer drive gears, pump drive gears, and the pilot bearings and pulleys around the front of the engine. Four sets of hex push-puller legs let you change the reach and jaw spread as the part gets bigger, so one kit handles a small input shaft bearing and a large mainshaft gear without swapping tools. Rated at 5 tons.
The problem it solves is component damage. Pressing or prying a bearing off with a chisel and a hammer brinells the race, marks the shaft shoulder, and cracks gear teeth. Pulling behind the inner race with a splitter takes the load through the part that is being discarded, so the shaft survives to be reused. Everything is drop-forged and heat-treated steel and comes in a blow-molded case so the legs and splitters stay together in the drawer.
