OTC 4623 CV Joint Boot Banding Tool and Cutter

The OTC 4623 is the banding tool that puts a factory-tight clamp on a CV axle boot. It works with the flat Band-It or strap-style stainless clamps that wrap the boot to the axle shaft and the tripod housing, the same style GM, Ford, and most import front axles use from the factory. Feed the loose band tail through the head of the tool, turn the handle to draw the clamp down, and finish it with a socket or wrench on the handle so you can pull it to real OE tension instead of guessing with pliers.

Once the clamp is tight, flip the cutoff lever at the front of the tool forward and it shears the excess band off clean right at the buckle, so there is no sharp tail sticking up to slice the boot or your hand. The same tool handles the strap clamps on steering rack-and-pinion boots and on radiator and heater hoses.

This fixes the number one cause of a comeback CV boot job: a clamp that got crimped with a screwdriver or side cutters and never really sealed.
