


Centers a heavy-duty single, two-plate, or push/pull clutch disc to the pilot bearing during install so the input shaft slides home on the first try.
The OTC 7480 is a 10-spline alignment shaft for setting up heavy-duty truck clutches. It carries a 1-3/4 inch outside-diameter shaft and a 1 inch pilot, so it lines up single-plate, two-plate, push/pull, manual, and self-adjusting clutch packs on Class 6-8 flywheels. It cross-references the Ford 308-D010 (D93T-7550-A).
To use it, hang the clutch disc and pressure plate on the flywheel and run the bolts down finger-tight. Slide the tool through the disc splines and into the pilot bearing, let it self-center the disc, then torque the pressure plate bolts to spec in a cross pattern and pull the tool. Skip this step and the disc sits off-center, which is why the transmission input shaft hangs up and refuses to seat when you try to marry the box back to the engine.
The shaft is molded from fiberglass-reinforced nylon rather than steel, so it will not gall or hang up in the disc splines and it is light enough to hold a heavy two-plate disc without drooping. At 8.8 ounces it stays in the box and out of your way between jobs. Confirm your disc is a 10-spline, 1-3/4 inch bore before ordering, as OTC also builds 1-1/2 inch (7072A) and 1-1/4 inch pilot (7073A) versions for other truck clutches.
