PPE Double-Deep Spin-On Transmission Filter, Allison 1000/2000

The Allison 1000 and 2000 series behind the 6.6L Duramax runs a spin-on external transmission filter, and the factory unit is a short can with limited media. This PPE Double-Deep filter is a direct spin-on replacement for that stock "shorty" filter but packs 2.72 times the filter surface area inside a taller housing, so it moves more fluid and holds more debris between services. It traps particles down to 15 microns, roughly half the size the standard spin-on catches, which keeps cleaner ATF flowing to the valve body and clutches.

It fits 2001-2019 Allison 1000 and 2000 series transmissions, covering Chevy Silverado and GMC Sierra 2500HD/3500HD Duramax trucks plus Kodiak and Topkick medium-duty. It is a direct replacement for GM part numbers 29539579 and 12471607, so it threads onto the same external filter port with no adapter. The extra can length adds roughly half a quart of fluid capacity, so top off after the swap and recheck level at temperature.

Installation is the same as any spin-on: drain or catch the small amount of fluid at the filter boss, spin the old can off, wipe the sealing surface, pre-fill the new filter if you can reach it, oil the gasket, and hand-tighten about three quarters of a turn past contact.
