RE5R05A Transmission Master Rebuild Kit for Nissan 4.0L

The RE5R05A in these trucks usually comes in for harsh or delayed engagements, slipping in 4th and 5th, or burnt fluid after towing. On the Pathfinder and Frontier there is also the well-known radiator cooler failure that lets coolant into the ATF; once that happens the frictions and bonded pistons are contaminated and the unit needs a full overhaul, not a fluid change.

Use this kit when the transmission is out and fully torn down. Replace every gasket and seal in the kit, soak new frictions in fresh Nissan Matic S or equivalent ATF before assembly, check clutch pack clearances against the service manual as you stack each pack, and flush or replace the cooler and lines before the rebuilt unit goes back in. On coolant-contaminated units, inspect the valve body and solenoids too, since the kit does not cure a stuck valve.
