Universal 19-row stacked-plate cooler with M22 female ports that pulls ATF temperature down on towing, high-stall and track builds.
This is a Setrab ProLine STD cooler out of the Series 1 range, 19 rows deep, with M22 female ports on both ends. Setrab part number 50-119-7612. The core measures 6.42 x 5.75 x 1.83 inches and the whole unit weighs 1.55 pounds, so it fits in front of a condenser, behind a bumper valance, or on a fan shroud in places a full-size tube-and-fin cooler will not go.
It is an all-aluminum stacked-plate core. Fluid is forced through a turbulent path inside each plate instead of running straight through a tube, which is why a short stacked-plate core pulls heat out at a rate a much larger tube-and-fin cooler needs airflow to match. That matters on an auxiliary transmission cooler, because the cooler usually ends up somewhere with mediocre air, not out in clean air at the front of the car.
The M22 female ports do not take AN fittings or hose barbs on their own. You need Setrab SUSA ProLine adapter fittings, sold separately, to convert M22 to -6AN, -8AN, -10AN, or a barb. For automatic transmission fluid, -8AN is the usual choice; going smaller adds line pressure drop the pump has to fight. Plumb the cooler in series after the radiator cooler on the return leg, keep the lines away from exhaust, and mount the cooler so the ports face up or sideways rather than straight down, which helps it purge air on the first fill.
Use it when fluid temperature is the actual problem: towing above the truck's stock rating, a high-stall converter that dumps heat at every launch, an autocross or track car that never gets a cool-down lap, or any build where you have already added a deep pan and still see the temp gauge climb. ATF that lives above roughly 220 F loses service life fast, and the clutches and the converter pay for it first.
